What to do? - Here are steps you need to take:
stop your car. If no one is injured in your car and it's not safe to remain in your car, get out of the car stay away from the traffic. If it's not a life threatening situations, don't move injured people. You can use first aid if you know it. Call the police or have someone else call. Call 911 if you have injured people. If cars can be dangerous to others and they are movable, move them to the side of the road. Get witnesses' phone numbers. Get the names, addresses, phone numbers, and driver's license numbers of the people involved in the accident. List observable injuries. Write down the name of each driver's insurance company, agent, and the make of each car and its license plate number. Take a picture or sketch the scene - the position of the vehicles, their direction of travel, warning or traffic signs, time of day, and road and weather conditions. If there were injuries, complete a police accident report, or if no injuries, any other state or provincial reports. Notify your insurance agent. Call towing service if the car is not drivable. - Still, don't authorize repairs. Don't accuse, argue, or admit guilt. Don't sign anything without reading it well. Don't finalize your insurance claim until all bills are in and the repairs are completed to your satisfaction.
